Qatar Masters Tips: Thorbjorn Olesen
Closed with a round of 68 in Abu Dhabi his best of the week and can build on that in Qatar, where he finished T3 last year.
Thorbjorn Olesen’s price to win the Qatar Masters is similar to last week but on paper, this is a weaker field so I am giving him a second chance.
The young Dane was going along nicely in round one until a double bogey on the easy 18th stopped him in his tracks.
It is starting to become an unfortunate habit as he suffered a similar disaster on the 18th at the Tour Championship, ruining his chances in Dubai at the end of last year.
It is a peculiar coincidence more than anything because he closed on Sunday with an encouraging 68, his best round of the week.
The 25-year-old should take confidence to Qatar where he finished T3 last year. He made just four bogeys throughout the entire tournament and only missed the play-off by one stroke.
Olsen’s results in Qatar are trending in the right direction, he’s gone MC-T59-T22-T3 and a victory doesn’t look far away at 30/1 (Bet365).
