Puerto Rico Open: Seamus Power

Puerto Rico Open: Seamus Power

Was fourth going into the final round of the Mayakoba Classic earlier this season and faces a similar test this week.

The Puerto Rico Open is a much weaker PGA Tour event as it sits opposite the WGC Match Play but it proves the perfect opportunity for an unheralded player to grab a win. For the first time in several months all the Web.com graduates get in on their limited status and I think one of them will be holding the trophy come Sunday.

The Puerto Rico Open has several similarities to the OHL Mayakoba Classic. It is played outside of the USA, on a windy coastline track with Paspalum greens. I expect the leaderboards to be similar and that brings Seamus Power into the equation.

The Irishman was fourth heading into Sunday but the pressure got to him as he fired a final round 79 and dropped to T28. It was a difficult experience but one he will have learned plenty from.

Power has been largely consistent this season making 8/11 cuts but finishing no higher than T21. If he keeps playing well, he will eventually be rewarded. He is a respectable 62nd in adjusting scoring averaged and has an excellent touch on and around the greens. In this company, he is a shade big at 66/1 with Skybet.
