Players Championship Tips: Luke Donald
Has five top-25s on tour this year from just six starts. Recorded top-6 finishes on his last two visits to Sawgrass.
In his last eight visits to TPC Sawgrass, Luke Donald has finished T2-MC-T16-T27-T37-T36-T4-6. It is an impressive record, especially at a course where experience is key.
With five top-25 finishes in six tournaments this season, the Englishman arrives in good form and seems to be peaking at the right time. In his last three starts he’s finished T4-T25-T3 but we can throw out the T25 at Augusta as the course is too long for him.
The world number five probably doesn’t win as many tournaments as he should, but he’s scored in each of the last two seasons on tour, so he is probably due at least one victory this year.
What makes him an attractive bet is his price, with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlory taking the headlines. Donald is available at 20/1, with Bet365 paying ¼ odds for a top-6 finish, he looks a solid each-way bet.
