Open Champion Tips: Dustin Johnson

Finished T14-T2-T9 in the last three Open Championships and should win a major sooner rather than later.

A prolific winner on the PGA Tour, only a major championship is absent from the CV of Dustin Johnson and after several near misses, he could put that right at Muirfield this week.

The 29-year-old has a tremendous Open record, finishing T14-T2-T9 in the last three years and the experience of going close in several majors could prove invaluable.

The big-hitting American has suffered with injury problems in recent years but he looked in good shape when finishing T10 in the St. Jude Classic two starts back and he already has a win under his belt this season.

Things didn’t go to plan in the US Open at Merion but the rough was so penal it blunted his advantage off the tee. There will be more room on the fairways at Muirfield and that makes Dustin Johnson an enticing proposition.

At 45/1 (Paddy Power) back him each-way and get ¼ odds for a top-7 finish.
