The Golf Outsider: Nordea Masters

Our longshots expert runs the rule over some lively outsiders at the Nordea Masters this week.

The Nordea Masters, formerly known as the Scandinavian Masters returns to Bro Hof Slott GC for the fourth year. The course is located in Stockholm and the leaderboard often has a Scandinavian feel to it. In the last five years there have been three Swedish winners and that is my starting point again.

Nordea Masters Selections

Kristoffer Broberg has had a quiet 2013 but any player who wins seven times in a calendar year deserves respect. That is what the 26-year-old achieved in 2012, winning three times in the Nordic League before progressing to the Challenge Tour and winning a further four tournaments. With the incentive to perform well in front of a home crowd, he could be set for a big week.

Morten Orum Madsen might hail from across the Øresund Bridge in Denmark, but the Nordea Masters is still very much a home event for the 25-year-old. A consistent 2012 on the Challenge Tour helped him earn promotion to the European Tour and he is making the most of the opportunity. He finished second at the Madeira Open a fortnight ago, his second top-5 finish of the season.
