Lyoness Open Tips: Lee Slattery
Record at Diamond CC is 54-9-4-32 and elevated his game to a new level last season by winning the Russian Open.
It’s taken several years for Lee Slattery to establish himself on the European Tour but 2015 felt like a coming of age. After numerous upheavals off the course, the 37-year-old seemed more settled and his golf improved. Last season he finished a career-high 45th in the Race To Dubai and bagged his second tour title at the Russian Open.
Slattery continued that good form with a T4 at the Qatar Masters early in 2016 but like many players he struggled to find suitable tournaments in early spring and it’s taken a while for his game to return.
We saw glimpses of his best in China when he finished T4 at the Shenzhen International and T34 at the China Open. But he struggled against stiffer competition at the Irish Open and BMW PGA, although Wentworth is a course he’s never played particularly well with a best finish of T35.
