Golf Outsider: The Volvo Golf Champions

David Horsey backed at 80.0

The golf outsider is back refreshed for 2012 and ready to winkle out the best value golfers at long odds.

The Volvo Golf Champions event has been on the calendar for one year and has already been moved from Bahrain to South Africa. This obviously doesn’t give us much to go on when picking a winner on course form, but we can still make sure we are getting decent prices. I’ll stick with just two picks this week as it is a limited field.

Volvo Golf Champions Selections
First up is a player who I have backed more times than Bernd Weisberger, and that is David Horsey. He has won twice on the European Tour and twice on the Challenge Tour in just four years, and now genuinely looks like a player who will be scoring at least one W every year for the foreseeable future. The price of 80.0 on Betfair is very tempting, he finished T13 in the event last year and has good results all over the globe.
Recommended Bet: David Horsey at 80.0 (Betfair)

Next is *short price alert* Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano at just 34.0, still fair value in a limited field. He finished last year like a train after coming back from injury with a 6th, 2nd and a win in the space of just two months. He should still have the bit between his teeth and a strong showing is therefore likely from the Spaniard.
Recommended Bet: Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano at 34.0 (Betfair)
