Golf Outsider Finds 160.0 Winner

Tom Lewis won his first professional tournament on only his third start. Great news for the Golf Outsider who flagged him up at 160.0.

A run of four birdies in the last five holes was enough for Tom Lewis to win the Portugal Masters and earn a two-year exemption on tour, in only his third start as a professional. It has been a year to remember for the 20-year-old, who led the Open at Royal St. Georges, whilst playing as an amateur.

It was also great news for followers of the Golf Outsider who tipped him pre-tournament at 159/1 with Betfair. Writing in his weekly column, our longs-shots expert said of Lewis, ‘anything in three figures at this point for the recently turned professional just looks great business. He is a great talent and will be desperate to secure his card for next season.’

It is unlikely we will ever see those prices on Lewis again, especially for a regular tour event. Skybet have released a number of specials on the youngster. He is 11/10 to win on the European Tour in 2012 and 66/1 to win next year’s Open. It is still early days but a promising future lies ahead.
