Alfred Dunhill Championship Tips: Charl Schwartzel

Certain to go close, record at Leopard Creek is 1-T2-2-MC-T14-2-T2-1.

Charl Schwartzel is a short price to win the Alfred Dunhill Championship but I find it impossible to leave him out of my staking plan.

Ranked 21st in the world, he is the class act in the field and his record at Leopard Creek is phenomenal. In his last eight appearances he has finished 1-T2-2-MC-T14-2-T2-1.

Last year’s victory was his most impressive to date, setting a tournament record score of -24 and winning by 12 strokes.

The formers Masters champion will have been frustrated to throw away a winning position in last week’s South African Open and he looks certain to go close at 7/2 (Skybet).

Unusually for a player at such a short price I recommend backing him each-way. A top-5 finish would get most of our money back and having been runner-up four times, if Schwartzel doesn’t win he won’t be far behind.
