Byron Nelson Tips: Robert Garrigus

Already a runner-up twice this season and finished no worse than T26 the last three times he has played the Byron Nelson.

Robert Garrigus gave us a good run for our money when he finished T15 at the Wells Fargo a fortnight ago. At similar odds, he could go close at the Byron Nelson.

Sitting 30th in the FedEx Cup standings, this is gearing up to be his best ever year on tour. All that is missing is a win. He has already come close on two occasions, finishing second at the Humana Challenge and the Transitions Championship.

The stats back up the good results. Garrigus ranks 3rd in driving distance but also 10th for GIRs and 39th for adjusted scoring average. The 34-year-old from Idaho isn’t just a bomber, he’s a good all-round golfer, his T3 finish at last year’s US Open is testament to that.

Last week he missed the cut at Sawgrass, but I’m not concerned. In seven years on tour, his best finish at the Players Championship is 73rd. More encouraging is his record at the Byron Nelson, where he has finished no lower than T26 in his last three visits.

At 80/1 (Ladbrokes) we have a player in form who enjoys the golf course. Back Garrigus each way and get ¼ odds for a top-five finish.
