Asia Pacific Classic Golf Tips: Brandt Snedeker

Hot putter

Ranked tenth on the PGA Tour for strokes gained putting; the most important club in the bag this week.

Bookmakers have gone with recent form when pricing up the Asia Pacific Classic. McGladrey Classic winner Ben Crane is favourite, but after a mediocre year he isn’t certain to follow up. At a bigger price, and a much more consistent golfer is Brandt Snedeker.

After finishing eighth in the FedEx Cup play-offs, the world number 27 is the highest ranked golfer in the field. Seven top tens in 26 tour events is evidence of how well he has played this season.

His stats also point towards a good performance in Malaysia. He ranks 9th on tour for actual scoring average and 10th for strokes gained putting. The 31-year-old American is comfortable going low, especially at courses where the onus is on making birdies.

Snedeker enjoyed a good three-week break after the Tour Championship and warmed up for this event with a T32 at The McGladrey. After a slow start, he finished with rounds of 67-69 - a promising return to form. At 16/1 with Boylesports I recommend betting ‘win only’ in this reduced field.
