Alfred Dunhill Links Tips: JB Hansen
Finished T3 at Castle Stuart despite an early quadruple bogey. A return to links golf could inspire him.
One of the most impressive performances I’ve seen all season came in defeat at the Scottish Open.
JB Hansen fought back from a quadruple-bogey on the second hole of his final round to lead the tournament at one stage before eventual finishing third.
Most tour rookies would have crumbled after such a bad start but he bounced back with six birdies in seven holes showing guts and talent in equal measure.
Apart from a fourth place at the Russian Open, the 23-year-old hasn’t achieved much else this season but his performance on a Scottish links lives long in the memory.
Last season he finished fourth on the Challenge Tour after three runner-up finishes, so he’s not a flash in the pan. A return to links golf could be the fillip he needs and at 200/1 (Stan James) he is a lively outsider.
