Tuesday World Cup Double

In an increasingly wonderful World Cup, backing matches to have 3 goals or more seems to make ever-increasing sense. Especially when BetFair are throwing some enhanced odds at us.

Tuesday is another day of reckoning for England fans but I can’t get on board with the bookies’ prices. Colombia have done nothing to suggest they should be 3/1 shots with the Three Lions deserving to be the most minor of favourites, at best, once you remove the hysteria.

That said I’m not going to back the South Americans , instead I would recommend BetFair’s enhanced odds of 7/1 on over 2.5 goals in both of Tuesday’s matches.

England’s two competitive group games produced 10 goals and I would take particular note of the lack of clean sheets. Southgate’s boys look better at attacking, largely due to set-pieces, than defending. Colombia, with or without Rodriguez, still carry a potent threat through Falcao and Cuadrado especially.

Their first two group games also produced over 2.5 goals and they beat France 3-2 in March.

Earlier in the day it’s Sweden v Switzerland in a contest that even the oddsmakers regard as too close to call. I’d say the Scandinavians have the edge after their heroic 3-0 victory over Mexico but backing goals again makes sense.

Both teams scored in all the Swiss group games and a continuation of that almost gets us halfway there straight away.
