Wolves v Spurs

Wolves need points to stay up, Spurs need them to stay in the hunt for the top four. Both may have to settle for just the one on this occasion.

A trip to Molineux seems a far more daunting prospect these days with Wolves having already claimed the mighty scalps of Chelsea and Man Utd in 2011. A 4-0 drubbing of Blackpool last time out only fuels the belief of many that Mick McCarthy’s side are better than their lowly position suggests. Spurs have developed a knack of scoring on their travels, and rarely lose, so a score draw seems a decent bet at 7/2 with Boylesports.

It’s March, and Spurs are still playing Champions League football. In the build-up to the first leg encounter against AC Milan, Harry Redknapp did a decent job of focusing his players’ minds on the job at hand as his troops ground out an impressive 2-1 win at the Stadium of Light. However, following their heroics at the San Siro, they went on to lose 3-1 at Blackpool. The mindset of Spurs will be all important on Sunday, when they travel without key men Bale and Van der Vaart, for a fourth consecutive away game.

Tottenham have scored in their last nine away matches which leads me to think 0-0 is unlikely here. They’ve gained an unrivalled 20 points from losing positions and it’s this resilience that should get them something against a side fighting for their lives. Wolves have an appetite for facing the big boys with six of their eight league wins coming against top-half opposition this season. All things considered, both sides will fancy their chances and a share of the spoils may be the outcome.
