Wales v Croatia Tip: First Goalscorer
Scored 8 in his last 10 games for club and country. Betfred will double/treble his price if he goes on to score a brace or hat-trick.
Beating Scotland was a satisfying result for Wales but playing Croatia is a completely different prospect. Igor Stimac’s side are joint top of Group A, seven points clear of Wales and the difference between the sides was evident when they met in October.
Croatia won 2-0 but dominated the game, with 14 shots on target. Mario Mandžukić opened the scoring and he looks the danger man again.
The Bayern Munich striker has scored eight goals in his last ten games for club and country and is averaging a goal every 101 minutes in the Bundesliga this season.
In a game I expect Croatia to win, Mandzukic looks good value to open the scoring at 9/2. However I recommend taking the 4/1 with Betfred because of their Double Delight/Hat-trick Heaven promotion.
If Mandzukic scores the first goal of the match, then goes on to score another, Betfred will double the first goalscorer price. If he scores a hat-trick the price will be trebled.
It’s not that long ago that Wales were overwhelmed 6-1 by Serbia; against a better team they might capitulate again, allowing Mandzukic to add to his impressive goalscoring record.
