Tottenham v Newcastle Tip

The hosts are heavily odds-on but the Toon Army are suddenly on a roll.

A couple of weeks ago it would have been hard to argue with best available odds of 7/10 (Bet365) on the Spurs win but things are all change on Tyneside. A raft of new French signings may have made Newcastle a subject of mockery, but the instant impact has already silenced many of the doubters.

The Magpies achieved their first away win of the season at Aston Villa on 29 January which stopped the rot. However, it was the last gasp 3-2 triumph over Chelsea that really looked season-defining. Moussa Sissoka has made a remarkable impact on English football by bagging a brace against the champions of Europe on his home debut.

Tottenham are going pretty well themselves after a stretch of nine unbeaten but I just have a feeling that there could be a couple of points dropped at White Hart Lane this weekend. An injury to Jermain Defoe has come at a bad time with striker options already limited at the club. Emmanuel Adebayor may find himself thrust back into action regardless of his condition on Saturday. Needs must.

The home fans will point to the wonderful form of Gareth Bale as reason for optimism, and rightly so. However, he can’t do it all by himself and it’s interesting that only two of his 11 Premier League goals have come in front of his own fans.

I’m backing Newcastle’s mini-revival to continue here with a score draw, available at best odds of 4/1 with Boylesports.
