Charlie Adam needs to stay on the goal trail

People love watching Blackpool because their games are always exciting. The opponents don't seem to matter - there are always goals!

The only thing people can say with any confidence about Blackpool games this season is that there are always goals. So, with that in mind, let’s keep this one simple and bet on there being at least four goals in their match with Fulham at odds of 7/4 with Coral. All the other bookies are more wary in this market with good reason; perhaps they’ve looked over the stats on Ian Holloway’s side a little more recently.

There have been 105 goals in the 30 Blackpool Premier League games so far this season - at an average of 3.5. On that evidence alone it’s hardly a stretch to suggest any of their games will see the net bulging at least a few times. But the case for goals only gets stronger when we see that the average is actually on the rise of late, and that Blackpool games are now doing the impossible, and actually getting even more open! The last four fixtures involving the Seasiders have all produced at least four goals, with a remarkable seven of their last eight matches meeting that criteria.

Ian Holloway’s philosophy this season has always been that his underdogs could only stay up by winning matches - scraping draws was never going to be enough. This refreshing outlook has made their scorelines almost impossible to predict but leaves them capable of upsetting the apple cart at seemingly improbable moments. This is just another day when Blackpool are expected to lose, and their form isn’t good, but I feel much happier just betting on a few more goals flying in. Who knows how many, and at which end? The good news is with this bet, none of that matters.
