Saturday Accumulator

We take two top flight powerhouses to get us halfway to accumulator success over Easter.

I’m relying on a couple of ‘home bankers’ as the starting point for Saturday’s four-team accumulator - a best price 7/1 shot with BetVictor.

Arsenal (1/4) v Reading:

The Gunners are right back on top form after a 2-0 victory at Bayern Munich was followed by a vital success at Swansea by the same scoreline. Arsenal scored seven against Reading in the League Cup and five in the Premier League fixture at the Madejski Stadium. The Royals just couldn’t handle the attacking potency at Wenger’s disposal and now they arrive at the Emirates after six losses on the bounce.

Man City (1/3) v Newcastle:

If there’s one thing the champions do well it’s react quickly to setbacks. They have won every game that has followed a loss in the top flight this season and you would expect that sequence to continue on Saturday. City are unbeaten in all competitions (W8 D1) at the Etihad since Man United snatched the points in early December. Meanwhile, Newcastle have only claimed one away league win all season and will have at least one eye on their impending trip to Benfica in the Europa League.

Wigan (20/21) v Norwich:

As we all know this is the time when the Latics traditionally make their bid for survival and this fixture looks like a ‘must-win’. Wigan will take heart from their last-gasp success over the Toon Army last time out; it was fortuitous but it will have created a sense that things are rolling for them now and that breeds confidence. Norwich have one win in 10 outings in all competitions and have only scored once in their last four away matches.

Charlton v Bolton (8/5):

The long shot in the acca on account of Bolton being away, but Charlton have been dreadful at home pretty much all season. It’s been the Valley of Sin for the Addicks,  particularly of late, after three straight defeats on their own patch without so much as scoring. In contrast, the Trotters are still eyeing a late surge into the play-offs after five wins in their last six in the Championship.
