Saturday Accumulator

Three teams who could deliver for us at very long odds.

Wigan are a curious team who are pretty difficult to predict, but their enduring ability to pull out a result when it’s really needed is what’s kept them in the top flight for so long. This week I’m throwing them into the mix with Championship form teams Blackpool and Millwall to comprise a 22/1 accumulator with BetVictor.

Let’s start in the Premier League with Roberto Martinez’s side who have just fallen back into the relegation zone on goal difference this week. The great thing for the Latics is that they have more experience of getting themselves out of a pickle that just about all the other sides down the bottom put together!

Wigan have so far beaten Southampton, West Ham, Tottenham and Reading this season and you just sense they could be a due another three points on Saturday. With the exception of Spurs, Norwich are clearly the level of opponents who Athletic have had some success against.

The Canaries have had a tough week that may have knocked the stuffing out of them. A 4-3 away victory at Swansea was followed by a 4-1 home defeat to Villa in the quarter finals of the league cup. Wigan have had a midweek off and can take full advantage.

In the Championship, Blackpool are on a seven match unbeaten stretch and still haven’t tasted defeat under Michael Appleton. There have been too many draws lately for the Seasiders but a last gasp equaliser at Palace last weekend will have kept spirits high after the 4-1 trouncing of Peterborough before that.

They face a Blackburn team who have looked in disarray since Henning Berg arrived on the scene. Rovers have picked up only one point from a possible 12 and managed just one victory in their last eight. A 4-1 Ewood Park hammering at the hands of Cardiff last week showed the depth of problems at the club.

Finally I’m backing Millwall to bounce back from a rare bad day at the office against Leicester. The Lions may have slipped up at Ipswich but before that there had been a 13 match unbeaten run that included victories against the likes of Leeds, Bolton, Forest and Wolves.

A home clash with the Foxes could be the ideal fixture to prove that the trip to Portman Road was no more than a blip. Leicester are another one of those clubs who look formidable on their own patch but lightweight on their travels. They have lost half their fixtures away from the King Power Stadium and the New Den will be another tough assignment.
