Saturday Accumulator Tip

Three homes teams to win at 8/1

Three sides who look like worthy favourites to win at home this weekend.

On a Saturday full of games that look unpredictable in the Premier League, Everton’s clash with Aston Villa stands out as the best value home banker. Arsenal may look like even more nailed on certainties at home to Blackburn, but at odds of 2/7, it just isn’t worth it. Everton, on the other hand, are 10/11 to win at Goodison against Houllier’s strugglers, and this gives us a good starting point for an 8/1 treble. The set could be completed by home wins for Leeds and Crystal Palace in the Championship.

David Moyes has finally seen his side move up to an appropriate league position of eighth, only behind Bolton on goals scored. Recent wins against Fulham and Newcastle, with a draw inbetween, has finally steadied the ship. Contrast this with Villa who are suddenly back in relegation bother. A meek Cup exit to Man City was followed by a defeat at Bolton and a home loss to local rivals Wolves, to really put Houllier under immense pressure. This doesn’t look like the time to turn it round.

In the Championship, fifth play sixth at Elland Road with Leeds currently one point ahead of visitors Forest. The parity of the two teams on paper explains why the Yorkshire side are longer than evens at 5/4 but this looks very generous on closer inspection. Leeds haven’t lost a league game at home since October whereas Billy Davies’s team are in freefall, without a win in seven matches. Leeds should win this televised clash.

It’s a similar story at Selhurst Park where Palace are also unbeaten since October. Their lowly league position is almost entirely down to appalling away form. This shouldn’t be a factor when Barnsley come to London with a poor record of just one win in their last nine outings.

Home wins for Everton, Leeds and Palace comprise a treble available with combined odds of 8/1 with VictorChandler.
