Redknapp Out the Door at Spurs

Redknapp: What could have been.

Mystery surrounds exactly what led to the 65-year-old leaving the Tottenham hot-seat.

Tottenham are hunting for a new manager after Harry Redknapp made a shock exit on Wednesday evening. It’s reported that club chairman Daniel Levy failed to reach an agreement with the 65-year-old on a new contract, with the old deal having one year left to run.

It’s an irony that Redknapp leaves now having been heavily linked with both the England and Chelsea posts over the last few months. With those positions now filled, most fans assumed his tenure at White Hart Lane was finally secure again.

We’ve now been effectively transported back to February with David Moyes favourite to become next Spurs boss once more; he is a best price 7/4 with Betfred and heavily odds-on with several firms.

Next up is Roberto Martinez at 7/2 (Bet365). Having been heavily linked with the Liverpool and Aston Villa posts already this summer, will the Wigan manager finally get a crack at a bigger club?

After what happened in the spring, there would be a remarkable symmetry to proceedings if Fabio Capello took the hot-seat; the Italian is 25/1 with BetVictor, Skybet are as low as 4/1.

Former Spurs legend Jurgen Klinsmann would be another intriguing candidate at 14/1 with Bet365.
