Zaha All Set For Defining Campaign
Palace's talisman has scored 6 times in his last 7 top flight appearances and is now playing as a proper striker. The bookies either haven't really noticed or don't believe the hype.
As much as I rate Liverpool as the only true challengers to Man City for the Premier League title, Crystal Palace are underrated in Monday night’s betting as a likely dark horse this season.
Clashes between these sides can famously be hard to predict but Wilfried Zaha is surely a better prospect to score anytime than best odds of 10/3 with BetFred imply.
The Eagles’ superstar signed a new five-year contract last week to put the home fans in raptures but it’s his relatively new position as an out and out striker which bookmakers should note.
Zaha’s 9-goal haul for 2017-18 doesn’t sound too impressive until you remember he had two spells on the sidelines and spent much of the rest of the time out on the wing in a side which really struggled early on.
But since Hodgson converted the Ivorian full-time to a key role down the middle, those numbers have really improved. Zaha found the net 5 times in the final 6 unbeaten Palace Premier League games of last season, picking up the April Player of the Month award in the process.
The 25-year-old was then straight off the mark against Fulham last weekend to suggest this was no flash in the pan.
