What Bad Run?

Much was made of Sergio Aguero's barren spell but he's still scored 19 PL goals in 24 starts this season and sits joint-top of the charts.

The one thing which was easy to overlook in last week’s Manchester derby was the return to form of Sergio Aguero. By the time the City star completed his brace in the 89th minute, the only impact was to marginally reduce the embarrassment for Manuel Pellegrini.

However, those goals also returned ‘Kun’ to joint top of the Premier League goalscoring charts. For a man who has supposedly gone off the boil, a return of 19 goals from 24 starts doesn’t look too shabby, particularly when you add in 6 Champions League goals!

We shouldn’t be surprised for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the Argentine has comfortably more shots per game (4.5) in the top flight than anybody else and in this sense is the nearest thing we have to Suarez this season.

Secondly, Aguero’s ‘bad’ run was largely down to poor fortune; he struck the post at Palace and against West Brom before netting twice at Old Trafford. The goals were coming and we should back him to break the deadlock here at 3/1.
