United Heading For A Fall

United are ranked 6th in shots per game and 8th in shots conceded. They cannot keep relying on David De Gea.

In typical fashion, Jose Mourinho has kept his own counsel this week by telling everyone what he thinks but journalists are following the wrong narrative. What is of interest is how United are performing despite some worrying shot numbers.

United are currently conceding 12.3 shots per game, only the 8th best in the league and their results are held up by David De Gea’s astronomical 85.9% save percentage. We know the Spanish international is an outstanding goalkeeper but his team can’t rely on him to perform miracles week after week.

Equally worrying is the fact that United are only 6th in terms of shots per game, combine this all with expected goals and this is a team who are outperforming their underlying numbers. Quality of player and manager hasn’t been accounted for but 6/5 on a Leicester/Draw is attractive if United are heading for a fall.
