Sunday Goals Double

Everton and Wolves are struggling for goals so today's first fixture looks poised to be tight. However, Arsenal are set to be entertainers again with an electrifying forward line hampered by familiar failings at the back. Spurs are out of sorts.

Sunday’s Premier League matches could provide quite a contrast with the Goodison Park encounter in danger of looking drab while the North London derby rarely disappoints in terms of action.

We’re going for a niche double: Under 1.5 Goals in Everton v Wolves but Over 3.5 Goals in Arsenal v Spurs. BetFair offer the best price on this at 6.5/1.

Everton v Wolves:

Two of the fancied teams to challenge the established big six in 2019-20 but I think both have underwhelmed so far.

Wolves have the better excuse with Europa League fixtures giving them the toughest start in the division, and it’s only a lack of goals that has prevented a great start regardless. Their 3 top flight matches have produced 3 draws and just 4 goals in total.

Everton games have been even stingier with just 3 goals in their first 3 league showings. The Toffees have only found the net once themselves but on the flip side they haven’t conceded at Goodison Park since early February.

Arsenal v Tottenham:

These great rivals will get a sense of the season ahead with question marks abounding for both clubs. Tottenham surrendered meekly to Newcastle at home last time out while Arsenal displayed familiar defensive frailty at Anfield.

That’s a good recipe for goals and there was an abundance in this clash last season when the Gunners ran out 4-2 winners at the Emirates. Today, Lacazette, Abubameyang and Pepe could be a formidable front three if Emery is brave enough to go down the Klopp route.

But can David Luiz keep the likes of Harry Kane quiet? On last week’s evidence it looks doubtful and this should be an open clash between two teams both needing three points.
