29th Sep 2018 | Premier League

Stamford Stalemate

Without Eden Hazard it would be hard to look past Liverpool, but the Belgian star is at the top of his game which could level this top of the table clash out.

Arguably the biggest game of the Premier League season to date takes place at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night when Chelsea entertain Liverpool.

With both teams unbeaten, it makes sense to back the longest price option of the draw, a best priced 13/5 shot with BetFair.

Most punters would reach the conclusion that Liverpool are the better side, with the League Cup victory for the Londoners, with many reserves on the pitch, counting for very little.

But the stats don’t back that analysis up particularly. The Blues are actually enjoying more shots per game on average (18.5) compared to 15.8 for the Reds, although the Merseysiders have seen slightly more hit the target.

Defensively they rank 2nd and 3rd in the division, behind Man City, with Chelsea conceding slightly fewer attempts on their own goal.

Perhaps Sarri’s side have enjoyed the easier fixtures, but then again Eden Hazard is looking like the best player in England just now.

All and all the margins are so close to be almost non-existent and sharing the spoils could be on the cards.
