Stamford Bridge Over Troubled Waters

For all their nightmares West Brom have drawn 11 of their last 24 in the league, including against Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool so they are competitive.

There appears to be no motivator as strong as desperation and West Brom will certainly feel plenty of that on Monday night. Weekend wins for Huddersfield, Swansea, Newcastle and West Ham have left the Baggies 5 points adrift and 7 points from safety.

The irony is that Pardew’s boys were seen as resurgent just over a week ago. Not long before the crucial 2-3 loss to Southampton they drew at Everton, beat Brighton and won at Anfield in the FA Cup. Sure they lost at Man City, but who doesn’t?

If they can recapture that recent momentum then they could snatch a draw at best odds of 21/5 with Bet365. But after 1 league win in 24 outings, surely nothing more.

Chelsea are enduring their own crisis after back-to-back hammerings from Bournemouth and Watford made it 2 wins in 10 across all competitions.

Everyone is saying they’ll be glad for a home game against the bottom team but that has the potential to backfire spectacularly.
