Had a rest in midweek and has scored eight times in his last seven appearances in all competitions.
There’s just no stopping Manchester City’s strikers at the moment and at 6/4 (PaddyPower) we could do a lot worse than to side with Alvaro Negredo in the anytime goalscorer market on Saturday.
Sergio Aguero may have more Premier League goals for the season (11) but at 11/10 (StanJames) it may just be his turn to be benched. At a longer price, I would therefore favour the £16m signing from Sevilla.
Southampton are his opponents and after conceding three goals twice this week, the Saints will have lost some of the defensive confidence previously built up. Negredo has found the net in six of his last seven outings, and eight times in total during that sequence. Rested against West Brom in midweek, The Beast will be raring to go again at St Mary’s and looks the best bet for this match.
