Soucek Mate

David Moyes is enjoying a managerial renaissance and will fully expect his boys to give his old club a proper contest on Sunday.

Even with Ronaldo back, and Antonio suspended, the clash between two unbeaten sides at Upton Park deserves a West Ham angle - given the odds.

The Hammers are priced up as nearly 4/1 underdogs despite their own impressive start, and top-six finish last season. We won’t take on that market though, given Man Utd’s impressive long unbeaten away run in the Premier League.

But the Red Devils do still concede goals on the road (see Young Boys), and we’re backing Tomas Soucek for First Goalscorer at a huge 16/1 with Bet365. Other firms have him as low as 8/1, and here’s why.

The Czech star has struck 14 times for the Londoners in the top flight in his 55 outings. That in itself makes him a 1 in 4 midfielder, and we should go each-way to get paid out at third odds if he strikes a later goal in the match instead.

The 6ft 4in 26-year-old broke the deadlock in this fixture last December and is averaging 2.8 shots per match so far in 2021-22.

Only Ronaldo, Fernandes and Greenwood have more attempts of those likely to be on the pitch, but their prices are a fraction of Soucek. If you want value, he could be your man.
