Sheffield Shutouts

The Blades have made a brilliant start to life in the Premier League with the joint-best defence to date. But only 2 sides have scored fewer leading to tight encounters on the regular.

Sheffield Utd did the business on Monday night against Arsenal and it’s tempting to go in again with them at a suddenly misfiring West Ham. But the Hammers have broadly been improving under Pellegrini and picking up massive results consecutively is a massive ask of newly promoted teams.

Instead, I’m more than happy to back under 1.5 goals in the match at best odds of 14/5 with BetFair. That’s happened in each of the last three Blades’ league matches and 5 times from 9 overall this season.

Chris Wilder is doing a stupendous job but scoring goals is still tougher than keeping them out. United games have seen fewer total goals than anyone else in the top flight by a distance - an average of just 1.67 per fixture.
