Saturday Acca

Brendan Rodgers has his first home game as Leicester manager on Saturday and Fulham tend to be accommodating visitors. Newcastle should continue their fine home form while Cardiff can heat up the relegation battle.

I think it could be a strong day for home sides in the Premier League with a best price 14.62/1 available with BetFred on Cardiff, Leicester & Newcastle winning.

Cardiff (5/2) to beat West Ham:

We start with the outsider and it’s undeniable that Cardiff City have had a dreadful two weeks. But they have thrived on being written off all season and are still very much in striking distance of survival. Hosting a mid-table side with little to play for and a terrible recent away record (W0 D1 L4) gives them a great chance to go again. 5 home wins in 11 for the Bluebirds suggest they can often produce when it counts in front of their own fans.

Leicester (4/7) to beat Fulham:

Onto our ‘banker’ selection because the big difference between Cardiff and Fulham is that the west Londoners are a further 8pts adrift, onto a 3rd manager of the season, and are already preparing for life back in the Championship. Scott Parker got a tune out of his new players at Chelsea but 8 defeats in 9 tells its own story, as does 65 goals conceded. Leicester’s form is poor too but the Brendan Rodgers factor seals the deal here.

Newcastle (9/5) to beat Everton:

The reason Newcastle will be safe so long as Rafa Benitez is at the helm is the defence; only 5 teams have conceded fewer than the Magpies. To make matters even better, the Toon Army have had the very rare pleasure of enjoying 4 top flight home wins on the bounce and could make it 5 today for the first time since 2004. Everton are the right opponents for that sort of bid with my suspicion being that they raised their game for Liverpool but it may not last.
