Many people are getting fed up of Mark Hughes’s hard-luck stories but the beleaguered Southampton boss has a point. The Saints are far more dangerous than recent results suggest and the former United legend could get a lift and shock his former club with a victory at best odds of 7/2 with BetFair.
The stats fully support Hughes’ conviction that his players are doing many things right - an average of 14.8 shots on goal per match remarkably ranks 3rd in the Premier League. United are down in 8th in this metric (13.0) although they are typically hitting the target more often.
