Roy's Boys Defending For Their Lives

Palace have been competitive at home to the top sides this season. They beat Chelsea 2-1, drew 0-0 with Man City and only lost late and 1-0 to Spurs last time out.

Manchester United are nothing longer than 1/2 to win on Monday night and when you look at Crystal Palace’s extensive injury list an upset only looks less likely.

But the Eagles’ home form and defence offers some cause for optimism in south London. They held out for 88 minutes against Spurs last weekend before Harry Kane settled matters. Under 0.5 goals in this match isn’t a forlorn hope at best odds of 11/1 with Betfair.

Hodgson’s team did hold United’s rivals City to a 0-0 scoreline on New Year’s Eve and that clean sheet was mainly achieved by a back line which included Hennessey, Tomkins, Kelly and van Aanholt. All 4 of those should play here with only United loanee Fosu-Mensah absent from the full set.

Mourinho’s side failed to score in either of their last two away league games, including at Newcastle, as well in the Champions League at Sevilla, so a better road trip here against desperate opponents isn’t a foregone conclusion.
