Leicester Still Top 3 Bound

Bad results against Liverpool and Manchester City shouldn't detract from what the Foxes are achieving for long. They could make a statement on 1st January.

Time will tell but I suspect Leicester City’s 2-1 victory at West Ham could prove one of their key results of the season. Not only was it the final nail for Pellegrini, but it showed the Foxes had the grit to bounce back from their first really disappointing week of the season, and that with many of their star players rested.

Brendan Rodgers took a big chance with his team selection but it paid off and he can reap the benefits at St James’s Park. Back Leicester -2 goals in the handicap market at best odds of 5/1 with PaddyPower.

It looks a big shout to back a comfortable away victory here but they have Vardy back, and the likes of Maddison, Tielemans and Ndidi fresher than their counterparts. Leicester can also benefit from squad players like Iheanacho and Gray scoring against the Hammers to gain confidence.

For their part Newcastle took a pummeling from Man Utd on Boxing Day before losing at home to Everton two days later. Memories of a 5-0 loss in the reverse fixture won’t help either.
