10th Nov 2019 | Premier League

Klopp Funk

We haven't seen a meltdown from the Liverpool boss for a while, what with things going so well, but the significance of Sunday may change all that if the defending champions blow the title race wide open.

It’s the big one. The reigning Premier League champions head to Anfield on Sunday to meet the European champions and table-toppers. Liverpool could move 9pts clear of their biggest rivals, or allow them within 3pts, with a trip to the Etihad to come next April.

We’re backing the latter option with City a best price of 10/1 with Bet365 to win this crunch clash 2-1.

Much has been made of the absence of Ederson but I suspect the limitations of Lovren at the heart of the Reds’ defence will be exposed instead. The truth is that City not only won by this scoreline the last time they met, they also bossed the Anfield clashed last season and would have claimed the league double were it not for a wayward Mahrez penalty.

City have suffered a couple of unexpected defeats this term, but you could argue that Liverpool might easily have dropped points in any of their last six top flight outings. Yes, it’s impressive to grind out results, but a really great team can expose their weaknesses.
