The shackles tend to come off when the final day of the top flight season comes around. The teams without much to play for release the handbrake, while those sides with everything on the line can end up going for broke.
With so much at stake on the final day of the Premier League season, the ‘safest bet’ might be to expect some traditional goal carnage.
PaddyPower are offering a heavily boosted 6/1 on there being 2+ goals in every match, and history suggests that’s a superb price when many players’ attention has already turned to the upcoming beaches.
The final day of 2020-21 produced 31 goals, with 9 out of 10 matches seeing 2 or more. Only Sheffield Utd v Burnley let the side down (1-0) and there are no games looking that bleak this time around.
Two years ago, when the most heavily pandemic affected season ended in July, this would have been a winning bet when all 10 fixtures provided 2+ goals, with 33 net-busters in total.
The trend continues even if you go back further. In both 2016-2017 (37 goals) and 2018-2019 (36 goals), nine of ten final day games produced 2+ goals. The likelihood of a strong run for your money is high.
