A few months ago one of the only criticisms you could have thrown at rapidly improving Southampton was that they remained over-reliant on Rickie Lambert for end product. But now, even that issue has seemingly been resolved with Jay Rodriguez one of the primary reasons.
The 24-year-old signed for £7m from Burnley 18 months ago but he’s really making his mark in his second season in the top flight. The 6ft 1in striker is now the top scorer for the Saints in 2013-14 having found the net five times in his last six league games.
Rodriguez bagged a brace at Cardiff on Boxing Day and also scored at St James’s Park on 14 December. He is a best price 10/3 (Coral) to score anytime for the third away match in a row and that looks like a bargain.
