Counter-Punching United Can Thrive

I wouldn't have fancied Ole's boys in this fixture a month or so ago but the Norwegian has found a system and a personnel combination ideally suited to hitting teams on the break.

An intriguing game at Vicarage Road where we get to see whether Nigel Pearson is likely to create an uplift in home fortunes, and whether Solskjaer’s recent improvement is likely to gather true momentum.

I’m inclined to back the latter, at least in the short term. Manchester United are good value to win with both teams to score at best odds of 12/5 with BetVictor.

The Red Devils have put together a six match unbeaten run in the league and the devastating display put in for the Manchester derby suggests this team will thrive best on the counter-attack.

Despite Watford’s lowly status, United will probably get plenty of opportunities to break quickly here and exploit the pace of Rashford, Martial and James. That’s because Watford have little choice but to throw caution to the wind now that they are nine points adrift of safety.

They showed signs of improvement at Anfield last time out, so expect them to score, but United’s frontline are far more clinical.
