Chelsea v Man City Tip

Mourinho renews his rivalry with Pellegrini in which he has always held the upper hand.

This is what is becoming known as a ‘signpost’ game in the race for the title between the two current favourites in the betting. It feels like home advantage will be important here with both teams having picked up 12 points from 12 in front of their own fans and considerably fewer elsewhere.

This clash is at Stamford Bridge, where Jose Mourinho has still never lost a league match as Chelsea manager (W50 D14). The London Blues have arguably looked like the best team in the country ever since the second half at White Hart Lane last month where they came back strongly to claim a vital draw. Since then there have been four pretty convincing wins (0-4, 1-3, 4-1 and 0-3).

Man City have also been on good form but just one solitary top flight victory at West Ham doesn’t answer doubts about their away form. Defeats at Cardiff and Villa have to be concerning, particularly since they led in both.

That capacity to implode could be exposed again by ‘The Special One’, particularly with influential City skipper Kompany remaining on the sidelines.

I think as the game progresses we’ll see why Mourinho’s men have been, and remain, my tip for the title. Chelsea are a best price 5/1 (Boylesports) to win after being level at the break.
