Boxing Day Clarets

After a Goodison disaster, some Everton fans will be relieved to have a game against a side in the bottom 3 next. But Burnley are showing signs of recovery.

The turkey won’t have tasted too sweet for Everton players this Christmas after they got stuffed themselves, 2-6 at home to Spurs on 23rd December.

Although I expect a reaction on Boxing Day, it’s not an over-reaction to think Burnley could make it two 1-0 home victories in a row at best odds of 12/1 with Betfred.

The Clarets have had an extra day of recovery since their 3-1 loss at Arsenal - a result that seems respectable next to that of their opponents!

But generally speaking Burnley have turned a corner since early December, in terms of performance, despite a tough run of fixtures. They competed admirably in defeats to Liverpool, Spurs and the Gunners and could have earned a few points with a bit more luck.

At least they beat Brighton 1-0 at Turf Moor to show that the unity they enjoy under Dyche still remains. Marco Silva gets a lot of praise in the game, but he has a lot to prove after heavy investment and 5 winless matches on the spin.
