Boxing Day Acca

Riyad Mahrez heads back to Leicester City and he, Aguero and De Bruyne will be keen to return to the starting line-up and exact revenge for Saturday's shock defeat to Palace. Part of a long price accumulator.

The Saturday before Christmas saw some big Premier League shocks and I think Watford will fancy their chances at home to Chelsea on Boxing Day evening. Newcastle may even make Liverpool work for an Anfield victory, but I’m anticipating convincing victories for the rest of the top six.

Back Man City, Man Utd, Spurs and Arsenal all to win -1 goals in the handicap market at best odds of 19.92/1 with BetFair.

Man Utd v Hudderfield:

I’ve been critical of United throughout this campaign, and something of a defender of Huddersfield, but the momentum has really changed here. Solskjaer immediately breathed new life into the Red Devils who were unrecognisable from the miserable mob under Mourinho. Town just can’t score goals, and miss Mooy so much; home defeats to Newcastle and Southampton have put them in huge peril.

Tottenham v Bournemouth:

I think Bournemouth will make a better fist of things than Everton, particularly after a good win over Brighton, but Spurs’ front 4 are just too irresistible right now. Admittedly Pochettino may need to shuffle his pack but the likes of Lamela and Moura can now come in without impetus being lost. If Kane is really starting a run again then few defences can contain him.

Leicester v Man City:

Arguably the toughest fixture for the big teams on Boxing Day, I’m backing Pep Guardiola to get a quick, fighting response out of a team who were so out of sorts in the shock home defeat to Palace. It helps that he can choose to start Aguero, De Bruyne and Mahrez this time! Leicester pulled off a brilliant victory at Stamford Bridge but repeating the trick against even better, motivated opponents is a huge ask. I think City will make a statement here.

Brighton v Arsenal:

I wouldn’t normally back Brighton to be comfortably beaten at home to anyone but there’s a sense of a side who have slightly lost their way just as the games come thick and fast. The Seagulls have lost 3 in a row while Arsenal have bounced back from a rare bad week. Aubameyang is on fire and remarkably they have scored 2+ goals in every away game so far this season.
