Alli Set For Huge Season
Based on his goal rush in the second half of last season Dele Alli has the potential to run riot in 2017-18. At 21 he is still improving from a very high level.
We can expect Harry Kane to be prohibitively short odds in the anytime goalscorer market in many matches this season but Dele Alli provides an enticing alternative for the opening fixture at a best price of 7/4 with BetFair.
That looks generous when you consider that the 21-year-old struck 18 times in 37 Premier League outings last term. But it gets even better than that because the second half of his campaign was truly exceptional.
From the week before Christmas, Alli found the net 18 times for Spurs, in all competitions, from just 29 appearances.
The only other issue we should consider is whether this is particularly tough opposition for Tottenham. The newly promoted Newcastle have much to prove before we can take that view.
