Action Likely At St Mary's

6 of the 17 league fixtures involving these sides have produced 5+ goals. Take out the games where one side just defends for their lives, which is unlikely here, and you're left with something close to a 50-50 chance of a high scoreline. The odds here are therefore exceptional.

The early kick-off on Sunday has the potential to get the action off to a flyer, and we’re going bold, backing over 4.5 goals in the match at best odds of 5/1 with BetVictor.

Southampton haven’t played one of the ‘big six’ at home since Spurs won 5-2 in September. Since then the Saints have enjoyed a run of 2-0 victories at St Mary’s but it will be fascinating to see what happens when a big teams goes toe-to-toe with them again.

This has happened in Southampton away wins matches more recently, resulting in a 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge and a 3-4 triumph at Villa Park. So a third of their matches have been goal-fests.

Now take Manchester United’s record. Much better on the road, they have claimed victories by the margins of 2-3, 1-4 and 1-3. In the context of this bet it would seem wrong not to reference their 1-6 home debacle, again to Spurs, as well.

So 3 of 8 United league matches have seen 5+ goals so far with two more reaching 4 goals.

Crucially, neither team arrives on bad poor so we are unlikely to see a shift away from attacking emphasis. Sit back and enjoy the show - neutrals don’t even need to worry which end the goals come at.
