Premier League Top Bets

Hodgson may have a point to prove to Liverpool.

A couple of surprises in the Premier League could really upset the bookmakers this weekend. Decent value bets are everywhere you look.

This weekend sees Man Utd, Chelsea, and Liverpool facing daunting away trips in the Premier League. The league leaders are 5/6 to win at West Ham with the improving home side available at 15/4 with VictorChandler. FA Cup semi-finalists Stoke are unbeaten at the Brittania in 2011 and may fancy their chances at 9/2 to beat Chelsea, especially after beating Newcastle 4-0 last time out. The bookies have put all their misgivings about Ancelotti’s team to one side though these days. The champions are a best price of 8/11.

Intriguing game of the day could be at the Hawthornes where Roy Hodgson’s new team tackle Liverpool, the side who dismissed him as recently as January.  West Brom are 85/40 to exact revenge on behalf of their boss who still holds an unbeaten record during his brief spell in the Black Country. Dalglish’s Reds are 7/5 favourites after generally improved results of late.

The form book is called into question at St Andrews where second bottom Birmingham start as favourites at 6/4 despite some very poor results since winning the Carling Cup. Bolton fans may wonder how their boys are only 2/1 to win having won five of their last seven in all competitions. It’s a similar story at St James’ Park where out of sorts Newcastle are evens to beat Wolves. Some would say these are curious odds for a side with one win in ten, against a team unbeaten in four. Mick McCarthy’s troops can be backed to claim another big name scalp at 3/1.

Everton are 10/11 to beat struggling Villa at Goodison while Arsenal are 2/7 to get three vital points off Blackburn at the Emirates. Spurs (7/5) face a potential banana skin away to Wigan who are 9/4. On Sunday, the home sides are heavily fancied again when Fulham (4/7) host Blackpool (5/1) and Man City (8/15)  entertain Sunderland who are 13/2 to win.
