Yakubu: Having a great season

Three teams who all have reasons to be optimistic on Saturday.

Backing the treble of Everton, Stoke and Blackburn to all win on Saturday comes in at lucrative best odds of 10/1 with PaddyPower.

First up I’m taking Everton (7/5) to make it seven defeats in nine league outings for QPR - the Hoops are on the worst form in the division. A lack of discipline continues to blight Mark Hughes’ side who will be without the suspended pair of Djibril Cisse and Samba Diakite for this one.

QPR have lost their last three top flight matches and have only taken maximium points twice at Loftus Road all season. The problem they have now is that they face an Everton side high in confidence after seven matches unbeaten. The Toffees may also be boosted by returns to fitness for Nikica Jelavic, Jack Rodwell and Leon Osman.

Secondly, I’m favouring Stoke (10/11) to utilise their greater Premier League experience against Norwich. The Potters will move above the Canaries with a victory at the Brittania Stadium - a ground where the hosts have never lost to these opponents.

Tony Pulis may feel some sense of relief that his side’s European adventure is now over. After the brave exit at the hands of Valencia just over a week ago, Stoke got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Swansea last Sunday. The boss will be hoping for more of the same at home to another promoted team this weekend; the return of key defender Robert Huth will surely help the cause.

Finally, I’m pinning my hopes on Blackburn Rovers (7/5) taking advantage of a pretty desperate situation for Aston Villa at Ewood Park. The rumbles of discontent have never really gone away for Alex McLeish, and he must feel like the fates are against him right now. The visitors are winless in four and now Darren Bent has been ruled out for the season at the exact moment when Robbie Keane’s loan spell has ended. None of Villa’s available strikers have scored a league goal in the past four months.

Obviously Rovers have had their fair share of problems throughout the campaign as well.  To say the least. But Steve Kean has seen the pressure put on him personally slightly diminish with the odd good performance. They have won two of their last three on their own patch and David Dunn should return for this clash. The talismanic midfielder is exactly the sort of player who can provide the hosts with a creative spark at this crucial stage of the season.
