Norway v Iceland Tip

The Group E table shows that the minnows are the better team and they have much more to play for.

We are now at the stage of the World Cup qualifiers that possible permutations are going to have a massive say on what happens next. Teams with everything to play for face opponents with nothing to play; this makes a difference that often isn’t reflected in the odds.

One such example comes when Iceland head to Norway on Tuesday evening. The visitors have never qualified for a major tournament but they know that they will definitely secure a play-off spot with victory in Oslo at best odds of 2/1 with BetVictor. Iceland’s task is to stay ahead of Slovenia in Group E and this can only be assured with three points.

They face a demotivated Norway team whose own hopes of reaching Brazil have already subsided. The hosts lost 3-0 to Slovenia on Friday, 2-0 at home to Switzerland before that and the writing’s been on the wall since a feeble home defeat to Albania back in March.

In contrast Iceland are going from strength to strength. Lars Lagerback’s men have won their last two and came from 3-1 down to draw 4-4 away with group winners Switzerland before that. Victory in Slovenia initially gave them this chance so we should be confident that Iceland can extend their bid for history by winning this clash too.

*2/1 immediately became available with BetVictor as tip was posted so updated accordingly.
