Maribor v Tottenham Tip

It's been a week for English sides coming a cropper in Europe. It could happen again in Slovenia.

The bookies make Spurs nothing longer than 8/11 (Ladbrokes) to win in Slovenia this evening and at those odds they must be opposed. AVB’s side have failed to win either of their opening two Europa League fixtures and this will surely be another tough assignment.

A full-strength Tottenham team would be one thing, but this is certainly not. Without Bale, Adebayor, Dembele, Parker, Assou-Ekotto and Kaboul in the travelling ranks, Maribor have every reason to think this game is coming at a good time for them.

The hosts are top of their domestic league with eight home wins in their last nine outings. Darko Milanic’s boys also beat Panathinaikos 3-0 on their own patch in Group J - Spurs were held 1-1 by the same opponents in Greece.

All things considered, I’m happy to venture back into the double chance market and take best odds of 6/5 (PaddyPower) on Maribor-Draw in this one.
