Leeds v Tottenham Tip

This Scottish international has scored two in two and could cause an under-strength Spurs side a few problems.

Saturday’s FA Cup results showed just how perverse this competition can be with the likes of Arsenal, Man City and Everton all surviving testing away ties while QPR and Norwich both came unstuck at home against lower league and non-league opponents respectively.

If a pattern does emerge it would be that the biggest teams in the Premier League are the ones best equipped to progress even while rotating their squads. That makes it hard to back the demise of Chelsea, Liverpool or Tottenham on Sunday.

However, it is Spurs who I could envisage having the toughest afternoon, at Elland Road. Leeds have won their last six Championship games on their own patch and you wouldn’t be surprised to see them find the net at the very least.

Usually, the man you automatically think of firing for Neil Warnock is Luciano Becchio, but after he handed in a transfer request this week who knows if he will even play. Instead, I like the look of Ross McCormack at best odds of 11/4 (Skybet) in the anytime goalscorer market.

The Scotland international is fully recovered from a long period on the sidelines and has already struck four times in eight appearances in 2012-13. He scored in the 3rd round replay at Birmingham and then bagged the winner last week against Bristol City to make it two goals in his last two outings.

After 18 goals in the league last season, McCormack may enjoy the sense that he is the man Leeds fans can rely upon again now.
