Ivan Klasnic Last Goalscorer Odds

Klasnic Super Sub

He is quietly becoming one of the sharpest marksmen in the league when he gets the opportunity to play.

You just need to look at the outright odds to see how difficult this game is to predict. Bolton are marginal favourites at 8/5, then you have Stoke at 2/1 and the draw at 12/5. I can see no edge here and had almost given up this game, until the last minute. Ironically, that is the angle.

With Daniel Sturridge unavailable for the game, looking at the team sheets there aren’t any obvious goal threats. Delve a little deeper and it is a collection of forwards with poor strike rates. The following table shows on average how many minutes the strikers go between scoring goals.

Minutes per goal (Premier League only)

Ivan Klasnic (Bol) = 84mins
Johan Elmander (Bol) = 269mins
Ricardo Fuller (Sto) = 270mins
Jonathan Walters (Sto) = 360mins
Kenwyne Jones (Sto) = 393mins
Kevin Davies (Bol) = 410mins

As you can see Ivan Klasnic almost merits ‘super sub’ status. To put it into context Dimitar Berbatov and Carlos Tevez score almost every 100 minutes, and Javier Hernandez scores every 96 minutes. It is fair to point to the low sample size for Klasnic as he only has three league goals. But he has six in all competitions and all of them were the last goal of the game.

With Sturridge not playing there is a good chance we will see the Croatian at some stage. The statistics show when he does get on the pitch he knows where the goal is.
