FA Cup: Top Flight Acca

It would be a major shock if any of these Premier League teams were booted out on Saturday.

We’re sticking with the big guns on Saturday as we take four Premier League sides to see off lower league, or non-league opposition, at best combined odds of 5/1 with WilliamHill. Arsenal, Norwich, QPR and Wigan should simply have too much about them.

Macclesfield v Wigan (6/10):

The Latics sit a whopping 82 places higher on the league ladder but are priced up at odds we see for a Premier League ‘mis-match’ every week. The Silkmen may have done brilliantly to get this far but they are only 9th in the Blue Square Premier division, suggesting they aren’t even special at that level.

Norwich (4/11) v Luton:

Another top flight team takes on non-league opposition, but this time with home advantage thrown in. The Hatters are ranked a little higher than Macclesfield, but then again the Canaries are arguably a cut above Wigan. Chris Hughton will take this seriously as an opportunity to boost confidence after Norwich’s recent slump.

QPR (4/6) v MK Dons:

‘Only’ 31 places separate these two on the league ladder but Harry Redknapp will appreciate the importance of keeping morale on the upturn at improving QPR. The Hoops are now unbeaten in five matches since the turn of the year and have a big enough squad to rotate without letting standards drop too low. The Dons lost here last year in Round 3.

Brighton v Arsenal (7/10):

The Seasiders are eyeing another top flight scalp after Newcastle perished at the AMEX in the previous round, but Arsenal are superior to the Magpies. The Gunners looked imperious on Wednesday when thumping West Ham 5-1 and Arsene Wenger can’t afford to take this competition lightly with the clamour for silverware become deafening.
